Implementing the Co-Op Project in AUT’s Industrial Engineering Department
In line with the implementation of “Students’ Skill-Enhancement” plan at Amirkabir University of Technology, Industrial Engineering Department started the Co-Op project for the first time, on February 23^rd, 2021 coinciding with Engineer Day, with the cooperation of Sepand Co. as an active company in the field of Business Intelligence. Under this plan, two of the top students of the department are currently employed on a monthly income, approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and benefiting from Social Security benefits. A three-year memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Department of Industrial Engineering and Sepand Co. with the purpose of attracting more Co-Op students, and this department is looking into other manufacturing and service companies to join this program. The achievements of the project can be stated as the ability of students in learning the curriculum better and providing the opportunity to gain experience and job positions in the industry immediately after their graduation, effective communication with industry, and access to data in order to address real industrial issues. This department is trying to introduce more students to participate in the project and sign agreements with more companies. The call for the second Co-Op project will be announced very soon through the website of the Industrial Engineering Department.
